NIRHA EFENDIĆ, PhD
Born in Zvornik in 1979. She graduated from the Department of Oriental Philology of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, where she also obtained her master's and PhD degrees in the area of literary history studies. Her research is focused on works in the field of oral poetry, particularly lyrical poems. One of her most significant achievements in this field of research is the first anthology of Bosniak lullabies as lyrical oral literature, published bilingually (English-Bosnian), entitled San u bešu, uroci pod bešu - Bosniaks’ lullabies; the copyright was assumed by the US electronic publisher Alexander Street Press for the purpose of creating a research database of ethnic minorities.
She has published several dozens of professional and academic papers in local and international journals, as well as the study Bošnjačka usmena lirika – kulturnohistorijski okviri geneze i poetička obilježja. Her papers have been published in Bosnian, English, Croatian, Polish and Slovene. She is a member of several international associations in the fields of ethnology, anthropology and folklore studies, within which she has participated in large international conferences with her contributions – in Boston (ASEEES) in December 2018; in Zagreb (SIEF) in May 2015, and in Sarajevo (ICTM) in April 2015. She works as a curator for oral poetry in the Ethnological Department of the National Museum.
