NEZIR HALILOVIĆ, PhD

Born in Visoko in 1977. He is the head of the Department of Islamic Religious Education at the Administration for Education and Science of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As an external associate, he lectures Teaching Methods of Islamic Religious Studies and Religious Pedagogy at the Islamic Faculty of Education of the University of Zenica. He completed his undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies at the University of Zenica. He obtained his PhD degree with the topic “Contribution of information technologies to the quality of educational processes in teaching”.  

Within his responsibilities, he closely cooperates on all issues in the field of religious education with representatives of Serbian Orthodox Church, Catholic Church and Jewish Community. He has initiated and participated in many joint projects such as Interreligious Meetings of Religion Teachers and, in cooperation with the World Vision foundation, he has participated in drafting the Manual of Interreligious Understanding

He has been the author of eight and a coauthor of four published books. His published works also include six translations from Arabic into Bosnian and over 50 academic and professional works in various journals and proceedings. The titles of his papers include Informacijske tehnologije u životu djece i nastaviOnline didaktika, and others. He is the editor of textbooks Religious Education for the First Grade of Primary School and Religious Education for the Fourth Grade of Secondary School.

He has actively participated at many academic symposia and conferences in Bosnia and Herzegovina and worldwide. He has held lectures and seminars in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Germany. Sweden, Denmark, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. 

He is a member of the International Union for Muslims Scholars, and an associate of The World Muslim Communities Council from the United Arab Emirates.

Nezir Halilović is also an advocate of modernizing the process of religious education using contemporary technologies in teaching and processes of formal and informal education within contextual learning.  

He has been involved in the issues of creativity, innovation in teaching, contextual learning, motivation for religious contents and living in line with the principles of religion.
