LEBIBA DŽEKO, MA
Born in Sarajevo in 1969. She completed Oriental studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo. At the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb, she completed postgraduate studies in ethnology - cultural anthropology, and obtained a master’s degree in ethnological and cultural-anthropology sciences in 2007.
She has been employed at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996, as a curator for urban and rural crafts, and was the head of the Department of Ethnology for twelve years. She has curated and co-curated 14 exhibitions at the National Museum of BiH and at several museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is the author of many professional and academic papers, and has participated in several projects implemented within the activities of the National Museum of BiH. She participated as an expert in the preparation of nominations for elements of intangible cultural heritage for inclusion in UNESCO's list of representative cultural heritage, and worked on the nomination of the only two elements from FBiH that were included in UNESCO's list. She is a permanently appointed expert witness for cultural history heritage in the Federation BiH. She is also employed as a museum advisor of the Department of Ethnology of the National Museum of BiH and, at present, as the editor-in-chief of Glasnik Zemaljskog muzeja BiH, Ethnology.
