Prof. ENES KARIĆ, PhD

Born in Travnik in 1958. He completed Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa, and the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo. He completed studies of philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo in 1986, and gained his PhD degree at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade in 1989. He spent some time undertaking specializations at several universities, including Al-Azhar, Cairo University, Yale University (USA) and Oxford University (UK), and was a visiting professor at the University of Ljubljana and Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He is a member of the Alu l-Bayt Royal Academy of Sciences in Jordan.   

His published works include the following: Uvod u tefsirske znanosti, Sarajevo, 1986; Hermeneutika Kur’ana, Zagreb, 1990; Politička i ideologijska tumačenja Kur’ana i islama, Zagreb, 1990; Kur’an u savremenom dobu, I - II, Sarajevo, 1997. 

Of his published literary works, some of note include: Crni tulipan, Sarajevo, 2008; Pjesme divljih ptica, Sarajevo, 2009; Jevrejsko groblje, Sarajevo, 2011; Minhenska godina, Sarajevo, 2012; Slučajno čovjek, Sarajevo, 2013; Boje višnje, Sarajevo, 2016; Bogovo roblje, Sarajevo, 2020.

He is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of the University of Sarajevo, where he teaches Tafsir – the science of explanation of the Qur'an.
