Foreword to the First Edition
When I arrived in fair Maglaj on the Bosnia as a teacher ten years ago, I came to a new world, unknown to me. I, who had never before even seen a Muslim, so to speak, had from that time on t live among them and teach their youth. Thanks to the kind welcome of local very renowned beys Uzeirbegovićs, I got accustomed to the new world very fast, and came to like the local Muslims for their sober life and for their sincerity, as if I had sprung among them.
